The Sub Zero Mission will launch a new awareness campaign with a unique twist.
However, the intent goes well beyond that. The Sub Zero Mission was founded by veterans and is focused on finding homeless veterans. The story line will help a new audience discover what homeless vets go through and how there is hope.
Adam Fields is the Graphic Novel Artist chosen to put this story to print.
“This story is a powerful one,” Fields said. “It sheds light on what it looks like when a veteran is down on his luck and struggling day-to-day with battling some remnants from his war days: the constant internal battle with voices and reminders of what he saw, what he went through and what he did while in combat,” he said.
Fields worked closely with Sub Zero CEO Al Raddatz to help form the story line and guide some of the imagery. Raddatz sees the introduction of this graphic novel as a way to help spread the word of the mission in many different ways.
“We have many young people who help in so many ways,” Raddatz said. “This was a unique way to connect with the next generation of donors and adult volunteers,” he said. “Yes, this will be used to raise funds, but we also see several being used as thank you gifts to some of our younger donors,” Raddatz added.
Meanwhile, Fields, who really took to what the Mission does and the connection to veterans, wanted to make the story as memorable as possible.
“On top of the battle within, Death takes the form of a frigid, winter night and tries to claim another soldier that has been shunned by so many,” Fields said continuing with what readers can expect.
“A helpful hand, The Blue Coat Missionary, comes to his aide in a powerful way.”
The graphic novel will be available at the SZM Store in Painesville Township or online.
Pre-orders are being taken until January 31, 2019 and will be signed by the artist.
